Gender stereotypes in South Korea

 Gender discrimination is something that occurs in many aspects of our society: From the economy and the world of work to the same language and discourse of individuals within it.

We live in a world of change and in recent years it has progress has been made to improve the situation towards a more egalitarian coexistence among all the members that make up the society.

What it means to be a woman in South Korea. Is there a gap between women and men?

South Korea is a country that currently pays attention to the role of women in generating growth for the state. However, this was not always her vision, since it only began to give importance to issues related to the development of women in the last stages of the 20th century. It was during the eighties of the same century that an organization called "Union of Women for the Reform of Family Law" was established, in which issues of inclusion and egalitarian relationships were emphasized.

Currently, the South Korean government has implemented certain measures that give rise to gender diversity in various sectors such as financial, in which they consider that there is an important link with the participation of women.

Regarding political issues, it is important to mention that the current government of President Moon Jae-in has a cabinet made up of 30% women, an action that had not been implemented in the past. This not only shows that attention is indeed being paid to these issues, but that greater inclusion is being sought in sectors that are dominated by men.
